Godsforge: Spotlight Series
Out on the table this week we have Godsforge, a simultaneous action taking card and dice game. Godsforge is a really quick game to learn, as well as play! Take on the role of sorcerers to cast spells and fight your opponents, until their health is reduced to zero. As usual, we will have it out on the demo table this week. Come by the shop to play a quick game, and get a feel for the components.
To start the game, each player chooses a color and receives that set of dice. Then, each player is dealt four cards, to create their hand. Each turn, all players will roll their dice simultaneously. The dice will pay for the cost of your cards, each card needing a specific combination or total of dice. There are two types of cards in the game, spells and creations. Spells are played instantly and are discarded after used. Creations are like creatures, and stay on your board until destroyed. Craft these cards to deal damage to your opponents, to try and knock them out of the game. Attack the player to your left and defend to your right, until they run out of health. Although they cannot play anymore, defeated players still deal damage to the other players. This mechanic ensures the game comes to a prompt end, rather than dragging on for too long.
Although is it a simple game, Godsforge has enchantingly designed cards with unfussy components. The elegant design of the box also makes it a great addition to beautify your collection. Godsforge only takes seconds to set-up and tear down, so it is very easy to get onto the table, and teaching it to new players only takes minutes. If you are looking for a quick and easy game to add to your shelf, Godsforge has an exciting theme and great aesthetic design.
Join us tomorrow to play Lord of the Rings: Journeys to Middle-Earth! This cooperative, app-assisted game will take you on an adventure through Middle-Earth. Defeat evil foes you encounter, and make heroic choices to create your own fantastical story! If you have ever been curious about Mansions of Madness, this game functions very similarly but has a different theme, and is worth checking out.
